Getting Ready
Including getting ready moments in your elopement day adds a huge part to your story told in photographs. Maggie and Jason had a beautiful space to prepare for their sweet elopement day at Norris Farmstead in Rockport, Washington. From the Farmstead, it’s only about a 45 minute drive up to the beautiful Diablo Lake.

First Look and Portraits
Choosing to do a first look allows for such an emotional and fun moment with your partner before saying I do. This gives you a chance to have a sweet moment alone and get some wedding day nerves out of the way. You can take as much time to yourselves as you want after the big reveal. Afterwards is the perfect time to get in some individual portraits of the two of you on your wedding day.
A moment for the cows
Norris Farmstead has the cutest highland cows in the field right next to the farm house. If they’re feeling friendly, you’re able to go up and say hello. The hosts of the property left these two some treats to feed them!
Exchanging Vows
Norris Farmstead offers a beautiful open field with a mountain view as an option for your private ceremony. Maggie and Jason got to exchange vows with the highland cows as their witnesses. Speaking your vows is one of the most meaningful parts of your elopement day. If you’re wanting to exchange vows in complete privacy, you can have your official ceremony with an officiant and witnesses then exchange vows privately in another location later on in the day.
Celebrate!
After Maggie and Jason said their vows, they decided to celebrate with a champagne pop and cake cutting! You can choose to include any celebratory tradition into your elopement day.
North Cascades Elopement Photo Locations
After celebrating at the venue, we hopped in the car and drove up highway 20. Unlike a lot of National Parks, there is no entry fee for North Cascades National park. You do however, need a permit to have a wedding ceremony within the park.
The first location we visited was the Diablo Dam. With sweeping views of the mountains in the background and a dam that you can walk or drive across, it made for an epic photo location. After that, we ventured to the shores of Diablo lake. Here Maggie and Jason skipped rocks just like they did on the day they got engaged! After the lake, we took the short drive up to Diablo Lake overlook. All of these locations required no hiking and were easily accessible. We were able to avoid crowds by visiting on a weekday around sunset in mid spring. How stunning are these locations?!
